Advisors to Governor Jammu & Kashmir, Khursheed Ahmad Ganie and K Vijay Kumar inaugurated Provincial Level Inter-District cricket competition at HSS Bijbehara Anantnag on Wednesday.
The tournament is organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) and the inaugural match was played between Anantnag and Bandipora.
Amoung others present on the occasion were Director General Youth Services and Sports Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director School Education Mohammad Younus Malik, District Development Commissioner Anantnag Khalid Jahangeer, SSP Anantnag Alfat Ahmad Khan, SDM Bijbehara, Chief Education Officer Anantnag, Principal HSS Bijbehara and International Cricketer Parvaiz Rasool.
On the occasion guests interacted with players and enquired about the sports infrastructure available in their Districts.
In their addresses both the Advisors laid stress on active participation of the Youth in Sports Activities. They said that every step is being taken to promote Sports at Grass root level so that the Youth can exhibit their talent in every field of Sports.
In the competition 10 teams are participating from Kashmir Division. The event is organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports Anantnag.
Earlier in his welcome address DG-DYSS welcomed the dignitaries and appreciated the roll of the Government for developing sports infrastructure in the nook and corner of the State.
Batting first Anantnag scored 157 for the loss of 6 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Yawar from Anantnag scored a brilliant knock of 50 runs while as Mujtaba Yousuf Wani scored 32 runs and Talha Ashraf 21 runs. From Bandipora Shafaqat,Arooj and Tauqeer claimed one wicket each.Bandipora while chasing the target scored 104 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs..
