The Eidgah Futsal football tournament organized by the local players of the Old City’s Eidgah area concluded at Eidgah playfield here on Saturday.

In the final Rahim FC Eidgah-XI defeated Polo Ground-XI through tie breaker. It was festive look at Eidgah playfield as final encounter attracted large number of spectators.
Deputy-Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah was the Chief Guest on the occasion and hailed the organizers for taking such initiative in the Old City area.
“I am happy to see these players taking intuitive of organizing such level of event in the heart of Old City. I love this area and want its youth who have got talent in abundance to take part in such type of sports events,” Shah said.
“Old City is known for producing quality footballers who have brought laurels for the State over the years. It is my aim to develop its sports and infrastructure related to it. We have tried our best to develop the fields and stadiums that in this part of City. Our next aim is to organize more and more events,” he further said.
Among others present on the occasion were Police officials of the area, JKFA officials, JKSDA officials and various footballers. JKSDA executive member and organizing committee member Nisar Hussain said, “To see footballers taking initiative and coming up with this level of football event is big thing. They love this game and want to do something for it. This event has been success and it will boost their morale to organize many more events in future”.
