GOC Fire and Fury Corps inaugurates Ice Hockey Rink at Ladakh Scouts Regt Centre

A newly constructed Ice Hockey Rink at Ladakh Scouts Regt Centre, Leh was inaugurated by GOC Fire and Fury Corps, who was the Chief Guest at the final match of the regimental Ice Hockey Championship of the Ladakh Scouts conducted today. The event was attended by an array of serving personnel, veterans of the regiment and young sportspersons of Ladakh region.

The prestigious annual event saw participation by Ice Hockey teams of all battalions of Ladakh  Scouts  displaying their skills in this unique sport.   The match ended with a tiebreaker, finally won by 1 Ladakh  Scouts  defeating 5 Ladakh Scouts  by two goals.  The event also included an exhilarating display by the Regimental Pipe Band personnel who mesmerised the spectators by their skills on ice skates.  

   

The GOC gave away trophy and prizes to the winner and the runners up teams.  Rifleman Jigmet Kunzang of  1 Ladakh Scouts was adjudged Best Player of the tournament.

Ladakh Scouts Regt Centre  being a sports node of the Army for Ice Hockey and Ice Skating, feeds players for the National Ice Hockey Team which has been taking part at IIHF Asia Cup since 2009. A large number of players of the Regiment are slated to participate in the forthcoming Senior and Junior National Ice Hockey Championship scheduled to be held at Leh from 16 January to 31 January this year.
