The Winter Games Association of J&K has released the calendar of activities for the forthcoming winter games in Gulmarg.
According to a statement by Muhammad Yusuf, General Secretary, WGAJK, the activities would start with domestic championships followed by prestigious UT and National level events.
“On 18th January, Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora championships will be held while on 19th Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal championships will be held. The dates for South Kashmir and Jammu districts will be announced separately,” said Yusuf, adding that all the participants should report in Gulmarg at 9 am on the dates fixed for their respective districts.
The forms will be available with Divisional Sports Officer, Polo Ground, Assistant Tourist Officer-Tangmarg, Biscoe School (Camp at Gulmarg), Mehmood Ahmad Lone in Gulmarg, Tahir Mir in Alochabagh and Shabir Ahmad Dar in Tangmarg.
Yusuf said that the format of forms would also be available on social media sites of WGAJK.
“All the participants shall have to bring their own skis, helmets and pack lunches. Accept skilift no other facility could be provided by the organizers. For juniors the age categories are born 2000-01-02; 03-04; 05-06; and 07-08. For further information the athletes could contact mobile numbers 7006041442, 7298193335, 9596177885, 7006922457.”
The Union Territory Championship will also be held after completion of the district championships and the teams shall be selected for Junior National and 2nd Khelo India National Winter Games from 6th February to 10th February and 11th February to 17th February respectively and from 17th February to 22nd February the first ever International Himalayan Championship will be held.
WGAJK also plans to hold a coaching camp for the selected athletes for junior nationals, he said.
