Indian Premier League: 4 Kashmir cricketers in upcoming IPL auction

Four cricketers from Kashmir have been included in the upcoming player’s auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The IPL franchisees who were sent a list of 1000 players having listed themselves for the auction, returned back the list of shortlisted 346 cricketers, including 226 Indians. The franchises were asked to submit their final shortlist by December 10 and the auction will take place on December 18.

The list includes four Kashmir cricketers lead by Parvez Rasool in all-rounder category on a base price of Rs: 50 lakhs. Pacer Umer Nazir and all-rounder Manzoor Dar (Pandav) have once again found their name in auction. The surprise entrant in the auction is the name of rookie 17-year old pacer from Kulgam district – Rasikh Dar. All the three have been listed for the base price of Rs 20 lakhs.

Pertinently Rasikh Dar was recently called by Mumbai Indians for the trials and was expected to figure in the list.

In last year’s auction only Manzoor Panadav was picked from J&K for the IPL team. He was picked by Kings XI Punjab who didn’t give him a single chance during entire 2018 IPL season. He was released last month by the franchisee from its squad and has to undergo auction again. Parvez Rasool and Umer Nazir both went unsold during the same auction.
