On the second day of the ongoing Inter-Government department cricket tournament, two matches were played at Kashmir University ground here on Thursday.
In the first match, Civil Secretariat defeated JKEDI by fourwickets. Batting first, JKEDI got all out for 119 runs in 19.3 overs. Basit with 33 runs was the highest scorer forJKEDI while as Shuja contributed 12
runs for them. For Civil Secretariat, Tahseen and Mehrajtook three wickets each while as Tahir chipped in with two wickets. In reply,Civil Secretariat achieved the target for the loss of six wickets. Tariq with57
run knock was highest scorer for them while as Mehraj scored24. Shuja and Shabir took two wickets each for JKEDI. Tariq was awarded man ofthe match.
In the second match of the day, Kashmir University defeatedJKSPDC-XI by 22 runs. Batting first, Kashmir University scored 142 runs for theloss of eight wickets in allotted 20 overs. Samiullah with 51 runs was
the highest scorer for them while as Amjid scored 47. ForJKSPDC, Ashraf took three wickets while as Asif, Ashique, Himayun and Javaidtook one wicket each. In reply, JKSPDC managed to score only 122
runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted overs. ForJKSPDC, skipper Zubair played lone valiant innings scoring 54 run knock whileas all other batsmen failed miserably. For Kashmir University, Nadeem and
Ashique took three wickets each while as Latief , Aijaz andMudasir took one each. Samiullah was awarded man of the match for his brilliantknock of 51.
