On the second day of the ongoing Inter-Government department cricket tournament, two matches were played at Kashmir University ground here on Thursday.
In the first match, Civil Secretariat defeated JKEDI by four wickets. Batting first, JKEDI got all out for 119 runs in 19.3 overs. Basit with 33 runs was the highest scorer for JKEDI while as Shuja contributed 12
runs for them. For Civil Secretariat, Tahseen and Mehraj took three wickets each while as Tahir chipped in with two wickets. In reply, Civil Secretariat achieved the target for the loss of six wickets. Tariq with 57
run knock was highest scorer for them while as Mehraj scored 24. Shuja and Shabir took two wickets each for JKEDI. Tariq was awarded man of the match.
In the second match of the day, Kashmir University defeated JKSPDC-XI by 22 runs. Batting first, Kashmir University scored 142 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted 20 overs. Samiullah with 51 runs was
the highest scorer for them while as Amjid scored 47. For JKSPDC, Ashraf took three wickets while as Asif, Ashique, Himayun and Javaid took one wicket each. In reply, JKSPDC managed to score only 122
runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted overs. For JKSPDC, skipper Zubair played lone valiant innings scoring 54 run knock while as all other batsmen failed miserably. For Kashmir University, Nadeem and
Ashique took three wickets each while as Latief , Aijaz and Mudasir took one each. Samiullah was awarded man of the match for his brilliant knock of 51.
