Overall it is third cycling medal for J&K players in the Inter-University as last year Akber Khan bagged two gold medals in same event for GNDU University Punjab.

Cyclist Adil Teli from Kanihama area of Magam, on Tuesday became first ever cyclist to bag medal for Kashmir University in the All India Inter-University cycling championship going on at Bikaner Rajasthan.

In the championship being hosted by Maharaja Ganga Singh University Bikaner under the auspices of Association of Indian Universities, Adil Teli bagged silver medal for the Kashmir University. He finished second the 100-kilomtre mass start event. 

Overall it is third cycling medal for J&K players in the Inter-University as last year Akber Khan bagged two gold medals in same event for GNDU University Punjab.

Adil Teli is being groomed by Arco Cements. 

He recently bagged silver medal for J&K in the National championship while as had last year bagged gold for J&K in same event. With the addition of All India Inter-University medal, he has got now three national level medals in his pocket.

“I have been training hard and it is result of that I am able to bag this medal. We have got strong team this time and tomorrow we have got chance to add more medals to our tally,” said Teli.

“We are getting better results now at national level despite lack of support at state. It is only due to our individual efforts and the support from our private sponsors. In our Narbal , Magam belt there are around 20 top class cyclists who only need little support and guidance so that we can get even better results at national level,” he added.
