Kashmir FC banks on local talent  for I-League

For the all important slot of the goalkeeper, the club has zeroed in on Shabir Hussain, a promising footballer from Chattergam area of Budgam district.

 Due for participation in the upcoming season of the I-League, the only participating club from JK, Lone Star Kashmir FC, have already starting building up U-19 team for the coveted event.

A club spokesman said the they are making sure that promising fresh talent is given every opportunity to represent the aspirations of football crazy fans of the state in the 2nd division of I-League, due to be played in the month of March. “We want to make sure the best available local talent represents the state in the coveted I League”, a club official said.

For the all important slot of the goalkeeper, the club has zeroed in on Shabir Hussain, a promising footballer from Chattergam area of Budgam district. He has been a part of the J&K Bank Football Academy programme.

“He represented the state in U-17 & U-19 nationals and other major state tournaments. He is a good shot-stopper with quick reflexes and the selectors have already brought him in to LoneStar Kashmir FC U-19 I-League team”, the spokesman said.

 The club has roped in Farhan Ganai – Defender – who is an outstanding footballer from Downtown Srinagar, having already taken part in U-17 and U-19 school nationals. The Kashmir FC selectors predict him to be a promising defender – confident and ensuring the defense line is in sync with the goalkeeper.  Midfielder, Amir Rehman, has also been drafted in the team who had begun his career with J&K Forest team. “He is a promising young talent, renowned for his build-up play from deep lying midfield positions. He is one of the first names on the coach’s team-sheet and plays in a holding midfield role”, the spokesman said.
