JK team leaves for Udaipur
Around 30 paddlers comprising persons, both men and women, left for Udaipur on Monday to attend the national Water Sports Kayaking and Canoeing championship, organizers said in a statement.
They said the JK team contingent was flagged off by Rouf Tramboo member JK Sate Sports Council and Deputy Director Tourism Muhammad Shafi Kakroo.
The teams have been sent by J&K water sports (Kayaking and Canoeing ) Association. The selection trials were held earlier this week at Nigeen Water sports Center.
In all 15 women paddlers and 15 men paddlers were selected for the national championship which would feature 15 teams including Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat ,Rajasthan, J&K, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, UP and Kerala.
“We have practiced very hard to compete in this championship. We want to win as many medals as we can win,” said Ashiq Hussain Tinda a participant.
JK team has won national championship twice.
The participants thanked President J&K Water Sports (Kayaking and Canoeing) and MLC Firdous Ahmad Tak for his support.
