Mountaineers scale Eastern Pinnacle Thajwas peak

A group of mountaineers have scaled the 15610 Ft altitude Eastern Pinnacle Thajwas peak.

The four member group of Cliffhangers India scaled the peak on July 12. As per available records the peak was last scaled by John A Jackson in August 1945.

The group was led by Mohammad Arif, Cliffhangers India Founder and included NazirRaina, Nazir Junior and Junaid Ahmed.

As per the group, this is first successful summit of the peak since 1945 and the Cliffhangers India are setting a string of Mountaineering summits and this was one of the peaks that the group intended to summit. Last year Cliffhangers organized a summit to Mount Valehead

“It is big achievement for us as this peak was scaled after the gap of so many years by the local Kashmir mountaineers. The mountaineering and adventure sports is picking up in Kashmir and we proud to be part of this development,” Arif said.

He said that Cliffhangers are looking to scale more peaks in the mountain range of Sonamarg and Kolahoi.

“We are looking to summit more such peaks that are part of this cluster of peaks in Sonmarg and Kolahoi range,” he said.
