Mushtaq Ali Trophy: J&K end campaign with 8-wicket win against Manipur

The J&K cricket team ended its campaign in the SyedMushtaq Ali T20 Trophy with comfortable win as they beat Manipur by eightwickets at Chukkapalli Pitchaiah Cricket Ground, Mulapadu on Thursday.

Playing its last match of the tournament after failing toqualify for knockout stage, J&K made six changes to the side that lost againstKerala on Wednesday. In place of Parvez Rasool who was nursing an injury,Shubam Khajuria was made skipper on his comeback while as Nawazul Munier,Bandeep Singh, Waseem Raza, Sharukh Ahmad Dar and Owais Shah were other changesmade. Irfan Pathan was also kept out of the playing eleven.

   

Chasing a huge target of 182 runs set by Manipur, J&Kachieved target for the loss of only two wickets in 17.1 overs.

Earlier batting first, Manipur scored 182 runs for the lossof six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Mayank Raghav with brilliant ton of103 runs was highest scorer for the while as Yashpal Singh scored 51. ForJ&K, Rasikh Salam took three wickets while as Shahrukh Dar, Waseem Raza andBandeep Singh took one wicket each.

It was big total to chase down but J&K did it in style.They achieved target for the loss of only two wickets with 2.5 overs to spare.

For J&K, Bandeep Singh was phenomenal scoring unbeaten59 runs from 26 balls that included four boundaries and four sixes. JatinWadhwan continued his superb form in the event scoring 59 runs from 29 ballsthat included eight boundaries and two sixes. Shubham Khajuria scored 34 whileas Shubham Pundir remained not out on 30. Mayank Raghav and Yashpal singh took one wicket each for Manipur.

J&K finished at fourth place in the Group-A afterregistering three wins and three defeats. They failed to make it to theknockout stage and will be heading home now. It was last campaign of the seasonfor J&K cricket team and they failed to make it to next round in each ofits campaign this season.
