North Campus wins KU’s inter-deptt cricket tournament

North Campus, Kashmir University emerged as the winner of the inter-department cricket tournament that concluded at Kashmir University main campus Hazratbal here on Friday.

The tournament had started on June 26 and saw participationof 35 teams from various departments of the University.

   

In the final, North Campus defeated Political ScienceDepartment by five wickets. Electing to bat first, the Political Science teamwas bundled out for 115 in 19 overs following a magnificent spell of bowling bythe North Campus, especially Hazim and Javed with the new ball.

Chasing the target of 116 runs, North Campus lost both theopeners within first five overs. However, a brilliant partnership between Rahiland Sharif put North Campus back in the driving seat and ultimately NorthCampus won the match by five wickets with two overs to spare.

At the concluding ceremony, Registrar Kashmir University DrNisar Ahmad Mir was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nisarcongratulated North Campus for winning the tournament after making to thefinals for the last three years. He also spoke about the importance of sportsand developing a healthy sports culture in the University.

Director, North Campus Prof Naseer Iqbal congratulated NorthCampus cricket team and the Convener Sports Er. Azfar Farooq for winning thetournament and bringing laurels to the North Campus.
