Police Memorial Football Tournament to commence from July 20

He said 34 teams representing different departments, organisations and associations will be participating in this championship.

Jammu and Kashmir Police is organizing 16th edition of Police Memorial football tournament from July 20 at Srinagar.

This was stated by the Additional Director General of Police A K Choudhary while addressing a press conference at Synthetic Turf TRC ground Srinagar. 

He said 34 teams representing different departments, organisations and associations will be participating in this championship.

Officers who were present in the press conference included IGPs, Shafkat Ali Watali, JP Singh, S Ahfadul Mujtaaba, and other senior police officers.

"The championship was initially introduced in the year 1998 in memory of inspector Mushtaq Ahmad Baba, the then SHO Kothibagh Srinagar who made supreme sacrifice on October 31 1997 at Regal Chowk, Srinagar while saving the people," said ADG.

The opening ceremony of the tournament will be held on July 20 with first match to be played between JKSRTC and Fort View FC on July 21 at Polo View. The winning team will be given prize money of Rs. 1.00 lakh and trophy. Runner up team will get Rs.75,000 and a trophy. The second runner up team will get Rs.50,000 and a trophy.
