Raja steps down in protest

Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 9: J&K Cycling Association Vice-President (Kashmir) Waseem Raja has resigned from his post in protest against what he termed as discriminatory attitude of Association towards players.
“I was shocked to see the discriminatory attitude of the Association which is based in Jammu. They are stopping our players from playing and have barred them from national trials. It is sheer discrimination and injustice,” he said.
“I am a player first then an office bearer. It is my duty to stand by the players who are facing discrimination and monopoly from the Association. Cycling talent is in Kashmir and by barring top riders from trials they are fielding third grade team to represent State in national event,” he said.
He said that if the Association will not allow these top riders to take part in rescheduled trials then they will come up on roads against the discrimination.
