S P Higher Secondary School Srinagar organized its annual cross-county run here on Saturday. The run, flagged-off at the school campus, M A Road, here, culminated at the Botanical Garden on the banks of world-famous Dal Lake.
The first position was bagged by Shoaib of Commerce stream while as the second and the third positions were bagged by Faizan and Zeeshan Ali respectively, both from the Arts stream. Speaking at the prize-distribution ceremony, Minister for Education, Naeem Akhter said that career counseling for students will be started soon "so that they can be given guidance in choosing a career of their liking".
He said counseling will help students plan better for their future, set goals and save time, adding that time is very precious and crucial for better career prospects.
Congratulating the school management, teachers and students for organizing the event, the Minister said that S P Higher Secondary School has been a renowned institute, adding that teachers and students should work hard to bring glory back to the institute. The Minister called for promotion of extra-curricular activities in the school and gave instructions to constitute a Mountaineering Club for the institution, which would promote culture of exploration and observatory learning among the students.
Director School Education, Kashmir, Principal, S. P. Higher Secondary School and other officers were also present at the ceremony.
Later, the Minister also attended the prize distribution ceremony of the Annual Cross Country Run organized by Sir Syed Memorial, Higher Secondary School, Parrypora.
