Senior Women’s One Day League: J&K suffer 5th consecutive defeat

On Wednesday, J&K were against Uttar Pradesh. J&K won the toss and chose to bat first. As has been case in the entire tournament so far, J&K batting failed once again.

J&K suffered its fifth consecutive defeat in the ongoing Senior Women’s One Day League as they were outplayed by Uttar Pradesh by eight wickets at Nimpur Ground, Cuttack on Wednesday.

In the event, J&K women’s senior cricket team has been outplayed in all the matches they have played so far. It is their fifth consecutive defeat in the tournament. They stand at bottom of points table with zero points.

On Wednesday, J&K were against Uttar Pradesh. J&K won the toss and chose to bat first. As has been case in the entire tournament so far, J&K batting failed once again. They managed to put on only 98 runs for the loss of seven wickets in allotted 50 overs.  

J&K lost first wicket in the very first over of the match with opener Bushra Ashraf getting out for a duck.  Jaspreet Kaur and Sarla Devi tried to stay in the middle with focus on defending and no urgency to score runs. Jaspreet was second wicket fall with J&K score only nine runs in 12.i1 overs. She got out for three runs after facing 37 deliveries. Sarla in middle joined by Meenu Singh took J&K score to 47 runs in 28 overs. Sarla got out after scoring only 17 from 77 deliveries. Meenu and next in batswomen Rubia Syed took score to 73 runs in 38.1 overs. Rubia was next to go scoring 10 from 25. Nadia Chowdary got out for naught while as Meenu was sixth player to get out in J&K inning. She scored 42 off 107 deliveries. Sandhya was seventh wicket to fall scoring five from 19. SheerazhBanoo remained not out on 11 off 22 and Bishmah Hassan one off eight. For Uttar Pradesh, RashiKanojiya and Tanu Kala took two wickets each while as Kshama and Anjali Singh took one each.

In reply Uttar Pradesh despite losing two early wickets, went on to chase total in 29 overs without losing any more wickets. Uttar Pradesh lost first wicket in the shape of Muskan Malik in third over. She was trapped lbw by Sarla Devi, scoring only one run. Sarla then clean bowled Shobha Devi on the score of 18 runs. Devi scored nine off 15. 

After that Tanu Kala and skipper Aditi formed unbeaten stand of 81 runs to take their team home. Aditi remained unbeaten on 51 from 68 deliveries while as Tanu on 28 from 79. Uttar Pradesh won by eight wickets and bagged four points from match.
