‘Sports for Peace’ competitions start in Anantnag

The district level Inter-Block competitions Under CSS ‘Sports for Peace and Development’ in the disciplines of tennis ball cricket, tug of war, volley ball, kabaddi, kho-kho, football kick started on Tuesday at Sports Stadium Anantnag.

The competitions were inaugurated by District DevelopmentCommissioner Anantnag Khalid Jahangir who was chief guest on the occasion.While addressing the participants he laid stress on their active participationin sports activities.

   

On the occasion he laid stress on the physical educationteachers for imparting coaching to the budding youth so that they can bringname and fame not at the state or national but at international level. He alsomentioned the name of local boy Rasikh Salam. While addressing the Rehbar eKhels he stressed for working with dedication for upliftment of sports at grassroot level.

Earlier District Youth Services and Sports Officer Anantnagpresented the welcome address on the occasion. Among others present on theoccasion were all the Zonal Physical Education officers, technical officials,newly recruited ReKs of Department of Youth Services and Sports.

On the inaugural day matches in the sports disciplines ofvolleyball, tennis ball cricket and kabaddi were conducted in which more than500 players of seven NES blocks of the district participated.
