Srinagar Court restrains event organisers from holding car race show

A local court here restrained event organisers for holding a car race challenge show event, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, April 7.

The development came after a group of 19 Kashmir based carracers approached court, seeking restraint order against event organisers OffRoad Kashmir as they were not allowed to participate in the event ‘Sky ViewFrozen Rush 3’.

   

Before the court of third additional Munsiff, Srinagar,petitioner, through their counsel advocate Shabir Ahmad Dar, pleaded that theevent was not only for the members of organisers’ own club but for the alleligible participants of the region.

“We being the amateurs like to take part in motor sportsracing event whenever an opportunity presents itself. We approached the organisersto allow us to participate in the event but they refused to allow us,” theysubmitted before the court.

“It is averred in the application by the applicant that theapplicant has a strong prima facie case and the balance of convenience alsolies in favour of the applicant,” the court said.

“If the relief prayed for is not granted, the applicant willsuffer an irreparable loss and injury which cannot be compensated at the laterstage. Hence, the non-applicants (event organizers) are temporarily restrainedfrom conducting the event without allowing the applicants to participate inrace show on 7th of this month except in accordance of law till next date ofhearing,” the court added.
