State Field Archery championship concludes

During the competition, selection for the national championship was held and around 30 archers were selected. The National Field Archery Championship is scheduled to be held in Tamil Nadu from December 26 to 29.

The 2-day open State Field Archery championship organized by Field Archery Association of J& K concluded at Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute, Naseem Bagh here on Sunday.

The event that was inaugurated by the Chairman Kashmir Harvard, Tariq Baktoo on Saturday saw around 100 archers from six different districts of the State participating in it. Former Sports Council member Rauf Tramboo was the chief guest on the concluding function.

During the competition, selection for the national championship was held and around 30 archers were selected. The National Field Archery Championship is scheduled to be held in Tamil Nadu from December 26 to 29.

On the occasion, Chairman Kashmir Harvard, Tariq Baktoo hailed the event as unique and said that more such events should be held.

“Archery is not that popular in our State and I was not even aware that our youngsters are participating in this event. I was happy to see so many players taking part in the event and doing well. With time, they will be able to excel at national-level and hopefully at international level as well,” Tariq said.

Rauf Tramboo congratulated all the participants in general and medal winners in particular and highlighted the importance of Archery and said that Archery is an adventure sport.

Later, both the guests distributed prizes among the winners. 

The others present on the occasion were senior executives of the Association.
