U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy: Haryana crush hosts J&K by an inning and 168 runs

Visitors Haryana completed their dominance against host J&K by registering an emphatic one inning and 168-run win in the match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 at Sheri-Kashmir Cricket Stadium Srinagar here on Tuesday.

Haryana after posting a mammoth total of 462 runs for the loss of only three wickets in their first inning did not require to bat again, as they bundled out J&K for 161 and 133 run total in first and second inning respectively.

   

The third day’s play began with J&K struggling on 161 for the loss of eight wickets. The remaining two wickets failed to add any more runs to overnight total as J&K bundled out for 161 runs 73.2 overs. For J&K, Mohammad Manzir with 54 was highest scorer while as Aakash Ayoub Bhat scored 33. For Haryana, Anuj Thakral took four wickets while as Mudrit Pruthi took three wickets.

Haryana eyeing a big win early in the day, enforced follow-on. In the second inning, J&K batting again failed to put any kind of resistance as the whole team got all out for 133 runs in 55.4 overs. Udhay Pratap and Jugyap with 24 runs each were the highest scorers for them. Mohammad Manzir scored 21. For Haryana Anuj Thakral took five wicket haul while as Mudi Pruthi took two. Haryana won match by an inning and 168 runs.

Earlier batting first, Haryana owing to the brilliant unbeaten knock of 218 scored by Yuvraj Singh and 167 by Ahaan Poddar declared their inning on a mammoth total of 462 runs for the loss of only three wickets. 

Haryana from the match bagged seven points including a bonus point.
