Visitors Andhra defeated hosts J&K by five wickets in the match of the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy at Jammu on Wednesday.
Needing 126 runs to win match, Andhra achieved target for the loss of five wickets. Earlier J&K resuming their second inning from overnight score of 134 runs with three wickets down went on to score 304 runs. J&K were forced to follow-on after it got bundled out for 157 run total in first inning in reply to Andhra total of 335.
In J&K’s second inning, Kanhaiya Wadhwan top scored with 89 while as Mujtaba Yusuf remained not out on 58. Jiyaad Nazir scored 49 and Abdul Samad 30. For Andhra, Vasu took 4-wicket haul.
Chasing a target of 126 runs, IPL recruit Rasikh Salam gave J&K brilliant start by removing Vamsi Krishna and Andhra’s first inning century scorer Mohammad Anwar early. However after that Andhra were able to form little but valuable stands to chase down small target. They won by five wickets. Yara Sandeep top scored with 39 for them while as Subramanyam remained not out on 23. For J&K Rasikh took two while as Mujtaba, Umran Malik and Javid Ahmad took one each.
