U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy: J&K beat Odisha by 174 runs

Bouncing back strongly after suffering two consecutive defeats, J&K registered a comfortable 174 run win over hosts Odisha in its third match of the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy Cricket Tournament at Cuttack on Monday.

Hosts Odisha got all outfor 335 runs in its second inning on the last day of the match while chasing atarget of 510 runs. They fell short of a target by 174 runs thus handingJ&K a comfortable win.

   

Earlier,the fourth day’s play started with Odisha resuming their inning from anovernight score of 183 runs for the loss of five wickets. Unbeaten batsmanManas Ranjan Nayak led a lonely battle for Odisha and went on to play afighting marathon inning of 171 runs before being the last man out for thehosts. Odisha got all out for 335 runs in 108 overs. Mana with 171 runs was thehighest scorer for them while Anil Panda scored 69.

For J&K Dhruv SinghParmar took four wicket haul while Basit Bashir and Abhay Tandon took twowickets each. Murtawan and Kawal Preet took one wicket each.

J&Kin its second inning had declared on 350 for the loss of six wickets to set atarget of 510 runs to win for Odisha. Musaif Aijaz had played unbeaten knock of153 runs while Kanhaiya Wadhwan had scored 103 runs. Yawar Hassan had scored49. For Odisha Malaya R Pradhan, Rasekh Biswal and Ankit Jaiswal took twowickets each.

It is first win for theJ&K team in the tournament after playing three matches and got six pointsfrom the match. The Team is scheduled to play on December 13 against Baroda inJammu.
