WORLD JUNIOR WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIP: Saleem wins silver medal in Brazil

Mohammad Saleem Kumar has brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir by bagging silver medal in the 7th Junior World Wushu championship in Brazil.

Saleem, who hails from Budgam, missed gold medal after going down to Iranian fighter in the final bout. He is first player from J&K to bag medal in world junior championship.

   

Saleem on his way into final, defeated players from Uruguay, Brazil and Egypt in the 48kg category.

Pertinently two players from Kashmir Naveed Farooq and Saleem Kumar were selected for the World Wushu Championship in Brazil. 

Naveed lost quarter final bout against a player from Vietnam.

Indian Junior Wushu team bagged nine medals in the championship which includes four silver and five bronze medals.

President of the Wushu Association of India, Bhupender Singh Bajwa has congratulated the Wushu team for the remarkable performance.  J&K Wushu Association has also congratulated Saleem.
