Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura on Friday condemned the statements made by director of the institute in the circular issued earlier.

In a statement issued by RDA SKIMS, the resident doctors called the statements made by director in a circular issued by the SKIMS administration on Friday as “outrageous and misleading”. The doctors said that they were aware of their professional responsibilities and worked with zeal and zest while the administration had not even attempted to protect their health by vaccinating them against H1N1 influenza. “Not even protective gears are being provided to us,” the statement said.

The resident doctors said that they would be forced to go on indefinite strike if their demand of removal of pay anomaly was not met within the time frame that had been discussed with the administration that is three weeks.

Taking a strong exception to the statements made in the circular, RDA said that “the doctors had a right to work with dignity and honor and that the administration was trying to malign it.” “Resident Doctors shall not be cowed down by such tactics as seek to suppress our worth and deny our rights. We instead advise the skims administration to forfeit such tactics and work for the welfare of its residents so that further escalation of situation is avoided,” the statement added.
