The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday held a workshop on urban transformation.  

Experts from AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation), a Centrally-sponsored scheme. “The experts are holding the workshop with local administrators to help them take off the scheme as soon as possible,” SMC spokesperson said in a statement. 

The workshop was chaired by SMC Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Zargar. Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Mandeep Kaur besides engineers from SMC and JMC, senior engineers from UEED and Director Urban Local Bodies were present on the occasion.

"The workshop is about the guidelines and funding of the scheme," said SMC Commissioner Showkat Zargar.

He said the scheme will provide the state 80 percent funding for projects, 10 percent incentive and 10 percent for administrative expenditure. "It will include consultancy fee also," he added.

During the workshop, a threadbare discussion was held with all local stakeholders. The scheme is aimed at rejuvenation of urban system, wherein projects of sewerage, public parks, drainage, urban transport will be taken up.
