10 kanals of common land retrieved at Parimpora

In a major anti-encroachment drive, the Srinagar administration Tuesday retrieved around 10 kanals of common land at Parimpora here.

An official statement said the land worth about Rs 15 crorewas retrieved during an anti-encroachment drive held under the supervision ofSub Divisional Magistrate East Sandeep Singh and the overall charge ofAdditional Deputy Commissioner K K Sidha.

   

Officials said five buildings constructed on the encroachedland were also demolished during the drive. The drive was part of sustaineddistrict-wide efforts the administration has intensified to remove illegalencroachments and retrieve encroached State and common land in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudharylauded the concerned officers including Tehsildar Eidgah Moin Kakroo for thismajor retrieval of common land from land grabbers.

He said the district administration has chalked out awell-thought-out plan aimed at retrieval of encroached state land andpreventing future encroachments thereof. He said the plan includes strictestpunishments for encroachers and grabbers.

Dr Shahid said the Revenue department of the district isunder strict instructions to go tough on land encroachers and retrieve allencroached State and common land in the district.

Meanwhile a huge cache to the tune of almost 50 truckloadsof illegally dumped construction material used for unauthorised constructionswas seized from an old city area. The confiscation of the construction materialcomes in the wake of strict instructions from the DC to concerned authoritiesto go touch on the illegal constructions nexus in the district.
