‘12 shopkeepers arrested for defying lockdown orders’

Police on Tuesday said it arrested 12 shopkeepers from here for defying lockdown imposed in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement said a case (FIR No. 22/2020) has beenregistered at police station Rainawari and further investigation into the caseinitiated.

   

The police have requested people to follow the restrictionsimposed by government in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus. “Those whoare violating the restrictions will be dealt strictly,” said the statement.

Ever since the 21-day lockdown was announced by the PrimeMinister Narendra Modi last month the police have arrested several people andshopkeepers for defying the prohibitory orders. Both police and civiladministration have been urging people to stay home and follow the healthadvisories to prevent spread of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir
