A drug peddler was arrested at Lal Bazar locality here today.
“A routine naka was laid by SHO police station Lal Bazar Riyaz Khan under the supervision of SDPO Hazratbal DSP Rameez Bhat at Moulvi Stop Lal Bazar. During checking, an individual was observed moving suspiciously. When apprehended he tried to flee but was detained. He was identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar of Veer Bijbehara, Anantnag. On his personal search, a bag was recovered containing huge quantity of Charas, approximately 1 Kg.
The accused was arrested on spot and contraband items were seized. The accused is a habitual drug peddler who procures charas from different areas and sells it to youngsters in Srinagar,” police said.
A case FIR No. 12/2018 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in police Sstation Lal Bazar and investigation taken up, police said.
Meanwhile, police arrested a drug peddler and recovered more than 100 bottles of codeine phosphate from his possession at Ali Jan road.
“A police party of police station Soura headed by SHO Soura, intercepted a Wagon-R car bearing registration number DL 9 CS-1236. During checking of the vehicle, 110 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered. The drug peddler identified as Bilal Ahmad Rather was arrested and the vehicle was seized,” police said.
A case FIR number 18/2018 under section 8/22 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Soura and investigation was taken up.
