5 bakery shops fined for flouting norms

A team of food safety wing officers of drugs and food safety organization on Thursday fined several bakery units for alleged non-adherence to norms.

Led by assistant commissioner food safety Srinagar, the team inspected various bakery manufacturing units in downtown as part of food inspection drive launched by the department in the district ahead of the Eid festival.

   

During the inspection, several bakery units were found unhygienic and their manufactured products were found containing preservatives. 

“One of the units at Noor Bagh was found operating without license and was sealed on the spot,” an official statement said.

It said five bakers were fined during inspection for non-adherence to hygiene stipulations as laid down under the Act.
