5 shopkeepers arrested for defying lockdown orders

Police on Sunday said it arrested five shopkeepers from different parts of the summer capital Srinagar for defying the prohibitory orders.

In the jurisdiction of police station Panthachowk, policebooked two shopkeepers who were found violating the orders imposed by districtmagistrate u/s 188 CrPC.

   

A police statement said the cases (FIR No 16/2020 and17/2020) under relevant sections of law were registered in police stationPanthachowk and further investigation into the matter was initiated.

In the jurisdiction of police station Soura, police bookedthree shopkeepers who were found violating the orders and a case (FIR No25/2020) under relevant sections of law was registered in the police station.

Police have requested the people to follow the restrictionsimposed by the government in order to prevent the spread of COVID19.

“Those who are violating the restrictions will be dealtstrictly,” said the statement.
