Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Tuesday visited Batamaloo area here to inspect its developmental scenario and concerns.
The DC visited all markets and localities of this area which is one of the major hubs of economic activity in Srinagar.
He also held an extensive meeting with representatives of the trading association of the area discussing several areas of its developmental concern.
The representatives raised number of issues affecting traders and general population of the area like drainage and sanitation.
They also discussed problems faced on the traffic front and means to ease congestion. The DC issued on-the-spot instructions aimed at resolution of several concerns. He assured that all other longstanding concerns as raised on the occasion will be addressed at the earliest.
The DC assured that a meeting of concerned departments will be called and a comprehensive plan formulated to address all genuine developmental concerns of the area.
Dr Shahid said the district administration recognises the important role Batamaloo among other commercially important areas of the city plays in the economic growth of Srinagar. “We are keen on offering it all kinds of possible support for its growth,” he said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner KK Sidha and senior officers from concerned departments accompanied the DC on the occasion.
