Ahead of Eid, market inspections held in Srinagar

Special market-checking squad constituted on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Wednesday held inspection of markets across the city.

The inspections which started at the start of Ramadhan andhave been intensified since Eid shopping picked up earlier this week are aimedat efforts to ensure fair-prising of commodities sold in markets. During theinspections so far a number of traders from various areas of the city werebooked and fined for violating different legal metrology norms.

   

Strict instructions are being given to all kinds of businessestablishments and sellers of essential commodities located in all areas toensure strict adherence to approved rates and refrain from overcharging.

The DC has instructed the concerned departments to ensurethorough market-checking and strict adherence to fair-pricing of essentialcommodities sold in markets, particularly those where major Eid shopping takesplace.

He has also warned all business establishments and sellersagainst overpricing of commodities and appealed the general public to reportinstances thereof at the DC Office helpline.
