Scores of Anganwadi workers on Tuesday staged protest here to press for redressal of their demands.
The Anganwadi workers assembled at Press Enclave here and demanded redressal of their demands including formulation of pension scheme, immediate enhancement of remuneration, payment of minimum wages and withdrawal of attempts to privatize ICDS.
They also demanded regularization of their services as Class III and Class IV employees with immediate increase in their honorarium to Rs. 5000 and Rs 4000 per month respectively. "We are being deprived of training grants and TA, DA allowances for attending different meetings like Pulse Polio and Aids Awareness Programmes. We appeal authorities to resolve our demands at the earliest," the protestors said.
Later they held protest at Residency Road and dispersed peacefully.
