Army installs solar streetlights at Rangreth

Army today installed solar streetlights at Rangreth for convenience of commuters.

“In continuation with our sustained endeavors toalleviate the problems of the local populace through goodwill measures, theArmy has installed solar street lights on one of the most crucial roads in theRangreth locality of Srinagar,” Defence spokesperson said in a statement.

   

“The 4 km road from Rangreth upto the Rawalpora Chowkis a narrow stretch which deals with a heavy volume of traffic thought the dayand till late in the night. This road has multiple blind spots and lowvisibility. Lack of street lights on this stretch poses a great risk to thelive of both travelers as well pedestrians,” it said.

“The Army in coordination with the civil authorities,fulfilled this urgent requirement through installation of solar street lightson this stretch of road which will not only avoid untoward incidents but willalso prevent anti-social and militant activities,” it said.

‘The installation ceremony was jointly inaugurated byCommander, Chinar AD Brigade and Muhammad Yaseen, Chief Planning Officer,Srinagar in the presence of various senior Army officials and civilians.

“Speaking on the occasion, the Brigade Commanderhighlighted the necessity of close civic-military synergy  and emphasized that such initiatives will goa long way in maintaining peace and tranquility in the region,” thestatement added.
