Arts Emporium employees stage protest

Kashmir Government Arts Emporium employees Thursday staged a protest on Thursday to demand release of their pending salaries from the past sixteen months.

The female employees from Kashmir Government Arts Emporium assembled at Press Enclave here against the authorities.

“We are working without salaries from the past 16 months and the other group is being paid the salary on a regular basis including the high level officers,” said one of the female employees.

“One of our colleagues was on dialysis and due to the financial crisis could not get his treatment done properly. His son used to come every day to seek release of the salary but due to apathy, the treatment was left halfway and the colleague passed away,” they said.

“We have been constantly approaching the higher authorities to release our pending salaries but the government is paying no heed to our demand. It has become difficult for us to pay school fees of our children. We have been borrowing money from our friends and relatives and yet the senior officials never faced such problems of delay in salaries,” said another employee.

The employees appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the issue.
