At senior citizens’ meet, a call for helping each other

The Pensioners and Senior Citizens Association, District Srinagar, held a meeting at the Ahatai Waqar, where special representatives from other districts also participated, prominent among them being Ghulam Mohiuddin (ex-additional DC Pulwama), Zafar Iqbal (ex chief engineer MES), Ghulam Hassan Bhat (ZEO), Muhammad Manzoor Magray and Trilok Singh (member Prabandhak Committee).

The chief patron, Abdul Gani Parray, explained the dynamicsof Pensioners and Senior Citizens in a moving speech. He said that pensionersare duty bound to help non-pension senior citizens because of their betterfinancial condition. The help has to come not only in financial terms but bylending a helping hand in their domestic problems or health issues so that theyalso live a happy life.

   

Parray said that while relatively healthier and well-offsenior citizens have some rights, they also have some responsibilities.

“Senior citizens should become buzurg (wise andwell-respected) citizens and use their mental faculties and experience inresolving each other’s issues,” he said.
