After years of delay, authorities today inaugurated Sarai for attendants at LD Hospital for convenience of patients from far-off areas at the lone tertiary care maternity hospital of Kashmir.

Commissioner secretary health and medical education, Atal Dulloo today inaugurated the attendant Sarai at LD Hospital. The inaugural ceremony was attended by principal Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar Prof Samia Rashid, Dr Kunzes Dolma director health services Kashmir, Dr Shabir A Siddiqi medical superintendent of the hospital and other officials from health and medical education department.

Medical superintendent LD Hospital said that the Sarai will provide comfortable stay and essential services to patients who visit the hospital from far flung areas and require to stay for necessary treatment. He thanked principal GMC Srinagar for logistic support to help make the Sarai operational.

The Sarai, although completed at least two years ago, was not available to patients and their attendants who required an affordable accommodation in the hospital premises. Administration of the hospital had held “various shortcomings in the construction” as a reason for delay in making the building operational.
