Audio malfunction: Div Com attaches eight officials, asks DC Srinagar to conduct inquiry

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan on Wednesday ordered the attachment of eight officials over malfunctioning of audio system during I-day function in Srinagar.

“Taking cognizance of the malfunction in the Public Address System in Independence Day celebrations at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium today, pending enquiry into their conduct, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has ordered the attachment of the officials with his office, with immediate effect,” said a spokesman.

He said the deputy commissioner Srinagar has been asked to conduct the inquiry and submit report by tomorrow.

The main state-organised I-Day function in Jammu and Kashmir was hampered due to the malfunctioning sound system, officials said.

The event was held at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar and presided over by Governor N N Vohra.

The audio system started to malfunction during the ‘bhangra performance’ by the personnel of paramilitary forces. As the audio system could not be repaired, the other cultural performances had to be cancelled.
