Authorities requisition 65 hotels, govt accommodations for quarantine purposes

The Srinagar administration has requisitioned 65 well-equipped hotels and government accommodations to be used as quarantine facilities for citizens arriving back in Srinagar from outside countries and those who might have contact into with the COVID-19 positive case in the district.

The hotels requisitioned for the purpose are all 3-starcertified with all facilities to facilitate comfortable quarantine. Thegovernment accommodations acquired are also all well-equipped.

   

The citizens adding up to 1166 persons who arrived back inSrinagar from outside countries during the last three days have been shifted to20 of these quarantine facilities.

It should be noted that 685 persons out of the total peoplehaving arrived back in Srinagar so far returned today. The remaining 481persons had returned during the previous two days and had been shifted toquarantine facilities soon after their return.

Following standard operating procedures as recommended inthe matter all these persons who mostly include students arriving back mostlyfrom Bangladesh were isolated soon upon their arrival and then shifted to thesewell-equipped quarantine facilities located at places.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudharyvisited over half of these quarantine facilities where the returnees have beenshifted for undergoing the recommended quarantine.

He inspected the facilities made available at these centresand also interacted with all the people shifted into them.

He urged all the persons shifted to these facilities tocomplete their recommended quarantine period assuring them of provision of allkinds of facilities and care during the period. He stressed that it was fortheir personal safety and that of their dear ones among others.

Senior health and medical professionals accompanying the DCinformed them about the importance of quarantining and do’s and don’ts thatneed following.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Shahid said all these quarantinecentres have been equipped with all kinds of facilities ranging from food torecreation to medical-care to ensure comfortable and safe stay for thequarantined.

He said all these facilities acquired under orders of thegovernment have been provided with requisite medical supervision adding thatspecial medical teams with diagnostic and other equipment and items have beenmade available thereat. He said concerned incharge officers have been maderesponsible for ensuring provision of all required facilities and needs ofquarantined persons.

Senior officers from concerned departments including ChiefMedical Officer Dr Talat Jabeen and Joint Director Planning M Yaseen Loneaccompanied the DC on the occasion.
