Bandipora minor’s rape |Protests continue in city centre

Protests continued in city-centre here on Tuesday against the alleged rape of a minor in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Throughout the day, representatives of various NGOs,socio-religious organisations staged demonstrations at Press Enclave demandingstringent punishment to the  accused.Protestors also took our protest rallies at Residency Road and Ghanta Ghar amidheavy deployment of police.

   

“We want capital punishment to the rape accused,” said SyedAli Rizvi, president, Ladakh Hussaini youth federation.

“Such incidents enrage people. We will leave no stoneunturned to ensure justice to the victim,” said Khuram Wani, member ofKashmir Reform group, a socio-political group. The protest was joined bymembers from different sects.

Hundreds of students from various city colleges took outprotest march from Residency Road to Ghanta Ghar. “Exemplary punishment shouldbe given to whosoever is involved in such inhuman acts. A stringent punishmentwill act as a deterrent against such incidents,” said a group of femalestudents at Ghanta Ghar.

They urged the administration to fast track basisinvestigation into the case.
