Residents of Bonpora locality of Batamaloo here have accused the authorities of failing to repair the defunct drainage system in the area.
A delegation of locals said that most of the damaged and defunct drains in the locality are choked making it impossible for residents to move in the locality.
“For years now the authorities have been applying temporary measures to repair the drainage system on temporary basis, but they have failed to find a long time solution,” said a local
Another resident said that school going children and elderly were unable to venture as the roads have turned into cesspool. “The defunct drainage system causes huge inconvenience to people while going to mosque as well during the holy month of Ramadan,” he said. The delegation said they met authorities concerned repeatedly to seek permanent solution to their problem, but to no avail. They appealed to the governor’s administration to look into the matter.
