Batamaloo residents decry defunct drainage system

Residents of Bonpora locality of Batamaloo here have accused the authorities of failing to repair the defunct drainage system in the area.

A delegation of locals said that most of the damaged anddefunct drains in the locality are choked making it impossible for residents tomove in the locality.

   

“For years now the authorities have been applying temporarymeasures to repair the drainage system on temporary basis, but they have failedto find a long time solution,” said a local

Another resident said that school going children and elderlywere unable to venture as the roads have turned into cesspool. “The defunctdrainage system causes huge inconvenience to people while going to mosque aswell during the holy month of Ramadan,” he said.The delegation said they met authoritiesconcerned repeatedly to seek permanent solution to their problem, but to noavail. They appealed to the governor’s administration to look into thematter.
