Scores of residents of Batwara area here staged protest against water shortage in the area.
The aggrieved residents blocked main road at Batwara demanded restoration of water supply.
“We are facing immense problems due to water shortage,” they said.
The traffic remained suspended on the busy road for an hour. Later senior officers reached the spot and assured the protestors that the matter will be taken up with the concerned authorities.
The residents appealed to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Chief Engineer PHE to look into the matter
Executive Engineer, Water Works Division, Srinagar said the water supply to the area was affected due to damage to water treatment plan in Tangnar.
“The restoration work is in progress” he added.
