The failure of the Badami Bagh Cantonment authorities to clear snow from streets and lanes on Thursday took a heavy toll on the commuters and pedestrians alike.
The inhabitants complained that despite forecast of heavy snowfall, the BB Cantt authorities failed to put the men and machinery on standby or clear the snow from roads, streets, lanes and by-lanes.
Inhabitants of Indira Nagar, Shivpora, Batwara and other areas coming under the jurisdiction of BB Cantt Board said the board authorities are yet to clear the inner roads of these areas.
“It is afternoon and we are yet to see any snow clearing machine to clear the link roads. Many people left by foot while majority couldn’t move out of their homes,” a resident of Indira nagar complained.
Kashmir valley, including the summer capital Srinagar, has been experiencing heavy snowfall since yesterday.
