A 35-year-old casual worker was mauled to death by bears while another was seriously injured in upper Dara area here on Sunday.
Showkat Khatana son of Papa Khatana, who was working ascasual worker in Soil Conservation department for last 10 years was attacked bybears while he was working in his land at Patshapal area of Dara area.
According to Rafiq Famda, a resident of Faqir Gujree,Showkat succumbed to his injuries on the spot at Patshapal as bears mauled himbadly. Showkat was resident of Faqir Gujree and had large family as dependents.
Another resident of Faqir Gujree, Riyaz Bajran son of FarooqBajran was also attacked by bears at Upper Dara area on Sunday and has beenadmitted at Soura SKIMS with grievous injuries.
“Riyaz was 18 years old and was also working in his field.”
“We appeal Wildlife Department to immediately deploy teamsto rid us of these bears who are on prowl in Faqir Gujree, Dhara and Harwanareas for last one week,” said Phamda.
