Clashes between youth and security forces broke out at Nowhatta area of Downtown soon after congregational Friday prayers at historic Jamia Masjid here.
Witnesses said that youth in groups took out rallies atNowhatta and fought pitched battle with security forces. “The number ofprotestors swelled and intense clashes were witnessed first at Khanyar and thenNowhatta. Later the protests spilled over to other parts of Downtown,”witnesses said.
They said security forces fired pellets and tear gas shellsto disperse the protestors. Locals said some protesters sustained minorinjuries in the clashes.
