The two-day 6th Post-End Semester Examination (ESE) workshop (VI-II) on “Assessment Examination Evaluation: Issues and Challenges” organised by Examination and Evaluation Wing (EEW) of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) began at Nowgam-I academic block of the varsity here Wednesday.
Prof. Parveen Pandit, said that during the era of competition, the role of educational institution in nurturing students’ talent has become more multidimensional. Addressing the participants, vice-chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, felicitated the EEW for holding the workshop.
“Examination and Evaluation is very important component of the entire education system and the reputation of the university is adjudged not only by the quality teaching-learning and research, but also by evaluation and examination system of the university,” he said. He said the teachers now a days have to take utmost care and caution while setting question paper and while evaluating as the students can verify any information through the search engines and web portals on internet. He asked the participants to make the sessions interactive and innovative.
Former vice-chairman, NCTE, Prof. R S Khan, hailed the dedication and values of the staff of the Central University of Kashmir and said that these virtues are reflected in the quality of education imparted to the students admitted in various programmes. Dean School of Education, Prof. N A Nadeem, said that this was part-II of the earlier workshop organised by the EEW on the same theme. He said the teaching, learning and assessment are interdependent and inter-related at all levels including the higher education.
Registrar, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka said, that entire life is an examination and one goes through examinations on every stage of life. He said that before setting papers, the paper setter has to step into the shoe of examinee and the heterogeneity in the classroom. Assistant Registrar, EEW, Mr. Faisal Irshad Ganaie conducted the programme proceedings and introduced the theme of the workshop.
Later on, Dean School of Education, Prof, N A Nadeem, made a presentation on “Revised CIA Scheme-Guidelines,” Prof. Shoaib Abdullah made a presentation on “Bloom’s Taxanomy-Its relevance to Pedagogy and Evaluation,” and Prof. Abdul Gani made a presentation on “Issues and Challenges in Evaluation of Research Degree Programmes.”
