DGP visits Srinagar Police Component

Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Tuesday visited Police Component Srinagar where he interacted with policemen and chaired officers’ meeting.

A statement said the DGP distributed cash rewards and certificates of appreciation for commendable work done by the officers/personnel of the component.

The DGP was accompanied by IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar and DIG, South Kashmir Range Atul Goel. He was received by SSP Srinagar, Haseeb Mughul and SP Police Component Srinagar Tahir Ashraf Bhatti.

The DGP appreciated the work done by the officers and personnel of Police Component in handling difficult situations along with other security forces during the recent operations at Panth Chowk and at Batmaloo.

The DGP said it was very unfortunate that during the Batmaloo encounter a woman got injured in the cross-firing and later she succumbed to the injuries.

He stressed upon the officers to be more watchful and alert as the “militants and their handlers in Pakistan have plans to stir and step up violence in Jammu and Kashmir.” While interacting with police personnel, the DGP complimented their bravery and valour.

Bhatti briefed the DGP on working of the police component and of the security measures being taken during an encounter.

The meeting was also attended by AIG (P/T), Rayees Ahmad Bhat, SSP Srinagar, Srinagar zonal SsP and other gazetted officers.
