The DIG Traffic Kashmir impressed upon all the participants to cooperate with the Traffic Police for better management and regulation of traffic in the Srinagar City.
In a bid to improve the traffic regulation in the City, DIG Traffic Kashmir Alok Kumar Thursday held a meeting with various “stakeholders and agencies affiliated with traffic management especially Traffic Police, Beacon, RAMKY, R&B, SDA, SMC, RTO/ARTOs besides Transport,” an official handout said.
“The DIG Traffic Kashmir impressed upon all the participants to cooperate with the Traffic Police for better management and regulation of traffic in the Srinagar City. Various decisions were taken during the deliberations regarding non availability of passenger vehicles during late hours and displaying of fare list,” the handout said.
“It was decided that fare lists shall be displayed by all passenger vehicles as well as in bus stands for convenience of general public, while commuters can register their complaints regarding non-availability of transport during late hours at Toll free No 18001807091 of TPCR Srinagar,” the handout said.
“It was also decided that plying of stray Sumos shall be discouraged especially in Srinagar City to promote Mini Bus services. Besides, additional parking lots for private vehicles shall be made available by SDA, SMC in order to reduce the menace of wrong parking.”
“While deliberating on the issue of traffic violations, the participants were asked to be more active in putting check on the visible traffic offences viz overloading, over speeding, rash, negligent driving, drunken driving, non-use of seat belt, triple riding on two wheelers, non-use of crash helmet etc., the main causes of road accidents.”
The stakeholders assured the DIG Traffic of their full cooperation for better management of transport in the City.
Representatives of SRTC, KMD Association, Star Transport Co, Western Motor Transport Co, Haji Peer Transport Co, New Kashmir Transport Co, Harmukh Transport Co, Shahanshah Transport Co were among those present on the occasion.
