The driver of Director Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Syed Sehrish Asgar was wounded after the service rifle of a Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) trooper guarding her residence here went off accidentally on Saturday.
A police official said the incident took place at official residence of the Director at Jawahar Nagar here after the weapon of SSB man went off accidentally.
The official said the injured driver was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment. His condition is stated to be stable. “The bullet had hit the wall before injuring the driver. The incident created panic in the area after which officials rushed to the spot,” said the official.
The official said a case has been registered in police station Rajbagh in connection with the incident and investigation has been taken up.
