DM Srinagar inspects arrangements at NEET centres

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was conducted at 57 centres established across the summer capital Srinagar.

Elaborate arrangements for observance of SOPS in wake of COVID19 were put in place by the administration and managements of respective centres which were set-up at different Colleges and Schools. Security arrangements were also in place for smooth conduct of the test.

   

District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary along with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Hanief Balkhi and senior officers from civil administration and police visited several centres to oversee smooth conduct of examination and arrangements put in place. SSP Srinagar, Haseeb Mughal and SSP Traffic, Javid Koul also visited various locations for security arrangements and traffic/parking managements near the centres.

A total of 20,137 students had enrolled for the NEET examination, of which 18,689 reported at the centres while 1448 were absent, making an overall attendance of 92.80%

The administration had deputed more than 40 Executive Magistrates and nodal officers for smooth conduct of examination and facilitating the students. The examination was conducted strictly as per guidelines issued by the National Testing Agency.

The DM complemented the management of various Colleges and Schools for making special efforts for smooth conduct of the examination and student convenience.

Meanwhile, police said an elaborate deployment plan was put in place in which 276 police officers and 3,552 officials were deployed including CAPF as well, for smooth conduct of the test.

“The safety and security of the examination centres was given a special focus and even night deployments were made around all such centres including those in vulnerable areas of the city. This added to the sense of security to the aspirants so as to enable them to perform in a peaceful environment,” said a police statement.

It said Srinagar police had made comprehensive and meticulously planned security arrangements, taking the sensitivity of the exam centers in consideration. Traffic police, Srinagar had also made elaborate parking arrangements around the centers for smooth movement of traffic throughout day.
